Views
You Can Use: An Overview of AM.NET's Views
AM.NET
views allow you to see a snapshot of data based on filter criteria, data relationships,
data groupings, and more. Views provides an easy and powerful way to see data
from many different perspectives. Need to see all members, grouped by type code?
How about a calendar of all events for a specific interest? With AM.NET views
you can. And you can do a lot more.
Filtering
data
Filtering provides a way to view and analyze records that meet specific
criteria. You can filter data in two ways: with a primary filter and a secondary
filter.
To see how these filters work let’s take a look at the event view. When you initially open the event view AM.NET sets the primary view to today’s date and extracts the data.

But perhaps you only want to see events for a specific location code.
First, find the City or Area column.

Then, click on the filter row and select the City or Area you want to include.

AM.NET will filter a subset of records within the primary set of records.

To remove the filter,
simply click remove filter
in the filter row.
Group data
AM.NET views also allow you to group data based on any column in the
grid.
Returning to our location example above, instead of filtering a specific City or Area, perhaps you would like to group each location together. Drag the City or Area column header to the Group by area.

AM.NET groups the events by City or Area and allows you to expand or close each group. It also displays the total number of records in each group at the bottom and top of the group.

Sorting data
Like any grid in AM.NET, you can sort a grid view on any column by
clicking the column header.
Click the column again to sort data in the reverse order.
Drill-down
related data
Views also allow
you to relate data, and then drill down to view related data.
For example, if you want to see a list of registrants for each event, click Registrants in the Related Data group of the Event Summary Explorer. AM.NET relates the data and displays a plus sign.

To extract the related data, click the plus sign. AM.NET displays registrant information for all registrants in the event.

Calendar
and timeline views
If the current data in the view is time-relevant—such as events—AM.NET
allows you to view it in a calendar or timeline. Let's take a brief look at
each.
To see the calendar view for the extracted data in our previous example, click Calendar in the Views group.

AM.NET displays the data on a calendar.

To see the begin time, end time, and name of the event, move your cursor over the item in the calendar. A tooltip appears with this information.

You can also view the calendar in intervals of days or weeks by clicking Day View or Week View.

Now, click Timeline to display events on a timeline. To open the Interval tool—a slider that lets you expand or contract the time interval on the timeline—click Set Interval. Need to see more events over a greater period of time? Pull the interval slider to the left.
