Names Labels and Names Selection Criteria
Like the Names Selection Criteria in AM4, AM.NET's Names Selection Criteria allows you to extract selected names information based on criteria you select. For example, need a set of labels for members with a join data before January 1, 1996? Specify a member status of Member and any join date before 01/01/1996. Need a set of labels for prospective members? Specify a member status of Prospective Members.

The criteria you can specify will not change. In this way, AM.NET’s Names Selection Criteria will be identical to AM4’s. However, the selection criteria will look a bit different and will have a few additional features to make it more powerful. To highlight these changes, let’s perform a simple export: women in a specific chapter.

First, select Reports from the Names section of the Main Button Bar.

The Names Reports window appears. Now, select Mailings from the list on the left. Finally, double-click (or click the report icon for) Labels.

The LABELS: Names window appears.

Configure the labels by selecting any relevant configuration options, and then click Run. The Names Labels selection criteria window appears. This is where you will set your criteria.

First, let’s look at the screen.

Instead of the tab-based user interface of AM4—in which each of the 5 tabs contains a criteria set—the AM.NET Selection Criteria screen has no tabs. AM.NET displays each criteria set and its selected criteria in a tree-view that allows you to quickly and clearly see each criteria set and its criteria.

Another difference: a separate screen no longer appears when you need to specify criteria. Relevant criteria input fields appear in the lower section of the screen when you select a field in the Pick Field list and click Select.

Now that we’ve looked at a few of the visual differences, let’s specify the criteria.

To select the gender, make sure the Pick Table drop-down says NAMES – Master File. (This is the default.)

Select Gender in the Pick Field list box, and click Select. AM.NET adds a criterion to Current Criteria > Criteria Set 1 and controls related to selecting gender appear in the lower portion of the screen.

Now, click anywhere in the list box. A window appears with relevant data. Move Female from the Unselected Items list box to the Selected Items list box and click OK.

Now let’s specify a chapter.

In the Pick Field list box, select Preferred Chapter and click Select. AM.NET adds a second criterion to Criteria Set 1 and controls related to selecting a chapter appear in the lower portion of the screen. (The chapters that appear in the picture will differ from the chapters at your society, of course.)

Now, click anywhere in the list box. A window appears with relevant data. Move a chapter from the Unselected Items list box to the Selected Items list box and click OK.

(Notice the red X next to the item in the criteria set group box. This allows you to delete a criterion you no longer need. Click to delete a criterion.)

Click Run. Label options appear in the Explorer Bar on the left side of the screen.

One more thing to keep in mind: the Selection Criteria is only partially complete. Currently, you can specify certain fields from the Names and Firms tables, but not all of the fields available in AM4 are yet available in AM.NET. We are working as quickly as possible to complete this feature in AM.NET.
